Michelle LaRiviere was born of French Canadian parents in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Timmins, Ontario at the age of five. For may years, she led a semi-nomadic lifestyle, living in numerous locales, including Mexico, where she traveled extensively, acquired a third language, and generally broadened her experience and personal philosophy.
Michelle studied at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, has a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Guelph, and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University. She works in a variety of media with much of her art exploring themes of transience and change from the female perspective. She now lives in North Bay where she is currently working in digital art and video.
This fall, Michelle’s work will be featured in the International Award for Photography and Digital Art 2010 exhibition at the Art Museum of Chianciano in Italy. She is the founder and chair of Art on Main’s AOM GALLERY.
