Lucie Fischer was born in the Czech Republic in 1980, and immigrated to Canada in 1990 with her parents, where the family settled in North Bay, Ontario.
Lucie had her first exhibition at the W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery in early 2007, and her subjects ranged from large roses, surreal European scenes, Top Hat Men, and whimsical watercolours for children. After the success of her exhibition, Lucie became a member of Art on Main, much to her delight, and she’s been producing and selling her much sought after work ever since.
Lucie uses a palette of warm colours such as rustic reds, neutral beiges, chocolate browns, and mossy greens in her work, and bare branches or trees, apple blossoms, and European buildings are common themes. Her backgrounds are textured, and sometimes include 3-D elements such as hand-made canvas blossoms with L.E.D. lighting, real branches, and dried flowers.
Lucie`s favourite subject, however, are her hugely popular Top Hat Men, all original characters reflecting the fashion of the 1900`s. Each one is individually named and signed by the artist, and have included favourites such as M.P.P., Monique Smith, and the dean of Canadore College, Darrin Caron.
Lucie continues to paint and hopes you enjoy these paintings as much as she enjoys creating them.
